About Hall's Serv-All

Hall’s Serv-All was founded in 1983 by Joe and Alicia Hall. They had moved to Northern Michigan from a Greater Detroit suburb in the pursuit of small-town values and a family-oriented community to raise their children. In Detroit, Joe was a Foreman with extensive machining experience at an industrial valve company and realized he had exceptional mechanical abilities. However, Joe and Alicia grew up in a smaller rural town distant from the big city, where Joe’s father had a vacuum truck and operated a small septic tank cleaning business. It was from observing his father’s work that Joe drew the inspiration to start Hall’s Serv-All.

Joe and Alicia settled in Posen and started Hall’s Serv-All with one truck. The Alpena community began to realize they had a neighbor who they could trust and would assist them whenever they needed with their septic issues. Every day, sunrise to sunset, Joe hit the road and Alicia answered the phones and handled the books. The business expanded its service offerings to sewer and drain cleaning and portable restroom rentals, later adding industrial waste capabilities. Over the next three decades, the business grew with tender loving care from Joe, Alicia, and several dedicated employees.

In 2019, after a lifetime of work and dedication, Joe and Alicia decided to pursue retirement. On September 12, 2019, Joe and Alicia Hall reached an agreement with a close group of family friends to sell the business and pass the torch for the business’s next stage of growth. Northeastern Michigan Environmental was formed to complete the transaction and allow Joe and Alicia to transition into retirement.

Joe and Alicia leave tremendously large shoes to fill, however under their guidance, the business’s main objective moving forward is leveraging technology to better serve its customers, suppliers, and constituents. The business will continue doing business as Hall’s Serv-All and the owners hope to preserve and strengthen the legacy that Joe and Alicia have created in the Alpena area and Northeastern Michigan as a whole. Since completing the transition of the business, Hall’s Serv-All has doubled its workforce and plans for continued growth in the Alpena community.
